A Note of Gratitude (and a Look Forward!)

Back when we pressed our first batch of apples for some test cider in the Fall of 2016, commercial cider production was only a figment of our collective imaginations.  We had since experimented, tested, and drank many batches of cider over the years while we honed our craft.

Us three cidermakers, Manly, Greg, and Josh, set out on the endeavor to bring our small-batch cider operation to market back in 2019.  With the backdrop of exceptional ciders throughout the northeast, we saw a noticeable void in the market of local, small-batch, high-end ciders, and signed our founding documents and set out to find a cidery.  We were successful in doing so amidst a worldwide pandemic, which was actually a respite for us during such a confusing time.  We outfitted our cidery with appropriate infrastructure and birthed Chester County Ciders, from West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Last year was a good and very fun inaugural year for us.  We made some exceptional ciders and were overwhelmed by the support of our customers and their wonderful feedback.  We offered thousands of samples to cider enthusiasts, cider-curious, and even those who “aren’t cider drinkers”.  The verdict: people like cider (even if they didn’t know it)!  Well, to be more specific, people like our cider!  The vast majority of folks who sampled our ciders in 2022 had never experienced anything like the true dry, beautifully clarified (yet unfiltered), naturally carbonated and apple-forward ciders we produce: cider that showcases our passion for the wonderful regional apples of Chester County and traditional method sparkling hard cider.

Over the past few years, we have been cultivating an expanding network of apple growers.  It has been a blast experimenting and aging our ciders and comparing vintages over time.  Our processes are robust and our ciders are better each year with increasing complexity and sophistication.  Our 2022 apple crop selection includes some fantastic cider apple varieties which we have just begun bottling for release this spring.

Thanks to an exceptional quality apple crop (sourced from our fantastic orchard partners) and our refined cider making methods we can say that our 2022 crop year ciders will be our best yet!  As in 2021, our lineup will consist of 750ml bottles.  But new this year we will also be introducing 375ml bottles for certain cider varieties!

This year you will find us at Swarthmore Farmers Market, Highland Orchards, holiday markets, restaurants, pop-ups, our retailer partners, and (at select times) locally at our Bolmar Street cidery.

We are a seasonal micro-cidery, pressing and producing ciders from locally sourced fruit by hand each harvest season.  We are inspired to produce the best cider possible.  We do this because it brings us joy to share our vision with all of you!

We will release mixed quantities of each cider and some very limited.  So, we invite you to procure these when available and enjoy right away or cellar some and appreciate them as they mature.

Thank you for supporting us and our craft!

With Gratitude,

Manly, Greg & Josh
